Working together to develop a shared understanding of the domain is a key challenge in software development. Event Storming has now established itself as a method in this area. But in reality, there are many more methods for collaborating on a domain model.
Above all, this training provides you with the tools you need to strengthen collaboration in your day-to-day project work using a wider range of methods. You’ll learn how to prepare and facilitate these sessions. The focus isn’t just on the methodological approach, but also on group dynamics, common challenges, and the role of the facilitator.
Another focus is on software development as a socio-technical system: architecture does not emerge in isolation, but rather through the interplay of people, communication, and structures. The training demonstrates how collaborative modeling helps make architectural decisions more transparent and mutually sustainable.
You will also reflect on different roles in collaborative architecture and modeling processes and develop an understanding of how you yourself can work effectively in such settings. In addition, typical obstacles to collaboration will be identified, and ways to address them constructively will be explored.
By the end of the training, you will be able to confidently apply collaborative modeling methods, select appropriate techniques for specific problems, and design workshops that lead to robust, shared outcomes.
Agenda
- Collaborative Modeling - How to build a shared understanding?
- Event Storming in practice
- Preparing and facilitating Collaborative Modeling Workshops
- Additional Techniques Beyond Collaborative Modeling
- Understanding Software Development as a Socio-Technical System
- Understanding Roles in Collaborative Architecture Work
- Finding and Shaping Your Own Role
- Making Architecture Decisions Collaboratively
Your Benefits
Understand collaborative methods such as Event Storming and be able to apply them in a project context
Be able to select appropriate methods for specific modeling or decision-making situations
Understand the benefits and use cases of collaborative modeling
Reflect on and overcome barriers to collaboration among participants
Audience
You’re interested in collaborative architecture work. In-depth knowledge of architecture isn’t necessary. The training is useful for architects, developers, POs, project managers, and others in similar roles.
